Major named IGA NPL Mens 1 NSW’s best

Blacktown City FC’s co-captain and enterprising attacker Travis Major has taken out the 2014 IGA NPL NSW Mens 1 Player of the Year award.

After 22 rounds Major was presented with the league’s highest individual accolade and there would be few if any that would dispute it. It really was Major’s year, a season he will surely never forget.

Crowned 2014 Player of the Year as well as going close in winning the Golden Boot, finishing with 14 to his name, Major really was the pick of the players this season. His amazing athleticism, combined with his will for scoring goals and being able to play almost every position on the pitch, Major was the King of the pack as voted by his fellow peers.

The Golden Boot (leading scorer) went to Bonnyrigg White Eagles ever reliable attacker Robbie Younis who grabbed the headlines as he hit the back of the net 17 times in 2014, while the goal of the year was awarded to Manly United’s young gun Dom Ferguson thanks to his cracking 40-yard belter in Round 5 against Blacktown City FC.

The 2014 Premier Leagues Gala Dinner took centre stage at Rosehill Gardens on Friday 12 September as players, coaches, officials and a number of high profile guests attended an evening to acknowledge the achievements from Football NSW major leagues.
